Mounting:
The Fuel Injector Controller is the heart of the system. It has an aluminum
plate on the bottom that is designed to act as a heat sink. Depending on the
installation you will need to mount the controller on a metal surface or where
it can get good airflow. It is splash resistant, but not waterproof so keep that
in mind. You will need to reach the knobs while driving to tune the controller,
but you do not necessarily need easy access to them. Some have mounted the
controller behind the passengers seat away from the splash zone. You may also
consider mounting it on the inside of a steel ammo box that has a removable lid.
Before you start running wires disconnect your battery ground!
Wiring is fairly straight forward. There's a 12 pin connector on the back and
also a 6 pin MAP connector if you have the turbo model. In short you run
wires to the ignition, start switch, injectors, TPS sensor, coil, fuel pump, and
map sensor. The diagram below shows the basic layout. Take your time with the
wiring and double check pin-out prior to reconnecting the battery and hitting
the ignition.
Fuel Pump Wiring: You can wire the fuel pump to
the computer or wire it directly to the ignition. The safest way will probably
be to let the computer control the fuel pump. The controller will turn the fuel
pump on for 1 second when you first turn on the ignition. At that point it will
wait for a start signal or tach input to turn on fully. If you should
stall the vehicle, the computer will turn off the pump within about 2 seconds.
